Alcovio Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 7, 2026 Last updated: July 7, 2026
Alcovio ("we," "us") operates alcovio.com, a furniture discovery and comparison service. This policy describes what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Information collected automatically. When you visit alcovio.com, we and our service providers automatically collect standard web log and device information: IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, links clicked (including clicks on outbound retailer links), and timestamps. We use cookies and similar technologies for this collection, as described in Section 3.
Information you provide. The site does not require an account. If you contact us (at any of the addresses listed on alcovio.com/contact), we receive the information you include in your message.
What we do not collect. We do not knowingly collect names, postal addresses, payment information, or precise geolocation through your use of the site. All purchases occur on retailers' own websites under their privacy policies, not ours.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to: operate and improve the site; understand which products and filters are useful; measure clicks on outbound retailer links (including for commission attribution as described in Section 3); maintain security and prevent fraud or abuse; and comply with legal obligations.
3. Affiliate Links, Third-Party Tracking, and Cookies
Alcovio participates in affiliate marketing programs. When you click a link from our site to a retailer, we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases you make.
CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction). We participate in the CJ Affiliate network operated by Commission Junction LLC. When you click certain retailer links on our site, CJ places a cookie or uses similar tracking technology on your browser or device to attribute any resulting purchase to Alcovio and to measure the performance of those links. The data CJ collects in connection with this tracking may include browser and device information (such as user-agent string, cookie identifiers, IP address, click and impression timestamps, and referring/current site URLs) and transaction information from the retailer (such as order identifiers and purchase details). CJ processes this data as described in its own privacy notice, available at https://www.cj.com/legal/privacy-policy-services.
Your choices for CJ tracking. You can opt out of CJ's interest-based advertising and learn about its cookie practices at https://www.cj.com/legal/privacy-policy-services. You can also decline or delete cookies through your browser settings; note that blocking affiliate tracking cookies means retailers may not attribute your purchase to Alcovio, but it does not affect your ability to use our site or to purchase from retailers.
Sovrn (Sovrn Commerce). We participate in the Sovrn affiliate network operated by Sovrn Holdings, Inc. Some retailer links on our site are Sovrn tracked links: when you click one, you pass through a Sovrn redirect on the way to the retailer, and Sovrn places a cookie or uses similar tracking technology to attribute any resulting purchase to Alcovio and to measure the performance of those links. The data Sovrn collects in connection with this tracking may include browser and device information (such as user-agent string, cookie identifiers, IP address, and click timestamps), the page you clicked from, and transaction information from the retailer. Sovrn processes this data as described in its own privacy notice, available at https://www.sovrn.com/privacy-policy/.
Your choices for Sovrn tracking. Sovrn's Privacy Center at https://www.sovrn.com/privacy-policy/policy-center/ offers a "Disable Tracking" control, which sets an opt-out cookie that Sovrn honours across sites using Sovrn Commerce. Sovrn also states that it honours the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which your browser can send automatically. As with CJ, blocking this tracking means a retailer may not attribute your purchase to Alcovio, but it does not affect your ability to use our site or to buy from the retailer.
Other networks. As we add retailers, we may participate in additional affiliate networks that use similar tracking technologies; when we do, we will name them here with links to their privacy notices, and this policy applies equally to them.
Our own analytics. We use only first-party, self-hosted analytics to understand site usage — meaning we log page views and link clicks directly to our own systems and do not use third-party analytics services. This data is not shared with advertising platforms.
How we count visitors without following you. To tell whether two page views came from the same person on the same day, we create a short code from your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, and a random value that we generate fresh each day and delete after two days. We do not store your IP address: it is used to build the code and is discarded immediately. Once the day's random value is deleted, the code cannot be recreated or connected to anything, so the same person visiting tomorrow is counted as an unrelated visit. This is why our visitor numbers are counted per day rather than per week or per month, and it is why we set no cookie and no other lasting identifier for measurement.
Consent banner. The site presents a cookie/consent notice on your first visit, allowing you to accept or decline non-essential tracking (including the affiliate tracking described above) before it is set.
Your Privacy Choices (do not sell or share). You can turn off the affiliate tracking described above at any time, for every network at once, at alcovio.com/privacy-choices. That page carries a standing "Do not sell or share my personal information" control, is linked from the footer of every page, and requires no account.
General cookie controls. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies via settings. Industry opt-out tools are available at https://optout.aboutads.info (DAA) and https://optout.networkadvertising.org (NAI).
4. How We Share Information
We share information only with: (a) affiliate networks and retailers as described in Section 3, for commission attribution and program compliance; (b) service providers that host and operate our infrastructure (e.g., web hosting, database hosting) under obligations to use the data only to provide services to us; and (c) authorities where required by law. We do not sell your personal information for money. Depending on your state's definitions, the affiliate-tracking described in Section 3 may be considered "sharing" or "targeted advertising"; Section 6 describes your rights.
5. Data Retention and Security
We retain server logs and click records for 24 months, after which they are deleted or aggregated. We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls.
6. Your US State Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws), you may have rights to: know/access the personal information we have about you; delete it; correct it; opt out of "sale," "sharing," or "targeted advertising"; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@alcovio.com with the subject "Privacy Request." We will verify and respond as required by applicable law. To opt out of the affiliate/advertising cookies described in Section 3, use the CJ, DAA, or NAI links above or your browser controls; we also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where required by law.
Note: several state laws apply only to businesses over certain revenue or data thresholds, which Alcovio may not currently meet; we nevertheless offer the request channel above to all visitors.
7. Children
Alcovio is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and visitors under 16 should not use the site. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at privacy@alcovio.com and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be noted prominently on the site.
9. Contact
To exercise any privacy right described in this policy (access, deletion, do-not-sell/share), or for any privacy question, email privacy@alcovio.com. For all other ways to reach us, see alcovio.com/contact.
